(Trump Care).
Medicaid expansion will be phased out by 12/31/19 Will allow new states to expand until 1/2020 Repeals Essential Health Benefits after 12/31/19 Repeals states' ability to make eligibility presumptive determination.
New states expanded will probably look like Indiana ie: Pence
There will be a set amount per person based on "targeted" spending based on enrollment status (elderly, blind, disabled, children, non-expansion adult, expansion adult) This is re: medicaid So there is a cap depending on which category you fall under. If a state goes over aggregated targeted spending then there will be deductions the following year.
So if a state goes over, then they will receive LESS money the following year!
Here's a kicker for everybody else. If coverage is interrupted for more than 63 days, there is a 30% surcharge in effect for one year. (This is from insurance companies!) Mental health and substance abuse are particularly vulnerable to the penalties of continuous coverage requirements due to hospitalization etc.
Based on age not income. Private insurance May or May not have parity!!!! So goodbye parity for mental health if you have private insurance.
Age 26 can stay on parents' policy, but here's the kicker. If you don't purchase your insurance in the next open enrollment period you will face a 30% surcharge. Insurance companies will do well.
