REC Position Statement: Part 15 Broadcaster Status In Relation To LPFM recnet.com/position-part15I think the reason so many resisted a national registry is because ASCAP, BMI, etc were starting to issue notices to part 15 stations in an attempt to extract excessive fee's from those who were simply hobby stations and not deriving any commercial interest from their operations. i remember when the RECNet registry came out and it was right around the time BMI was gearing up their onslaught toward part 15 operators.

Well the more I read this stuf the more I think we'll need a separate service for Hobby Radio and not called Part 15 in any way for AM and maybe FM. What is even more interesting is that REC(Net) was considering the 87.7 and 87.9 idea and even further by including 76 Mhz for FM like in Japan and Europe. So maybe we can work with these guys in some way. The SW broadcast band they are saying this would be a great place for part 15 so maybe we really need to start there for a petition.
Thanks for the good read over here about REC(Net).
